It will be a fulfledged residential Teacher Education Institute for male and female teacher-trainees for Elementary schools. It is proposed to be operated on self-financed and non-profit making basis. Since no grant of whatsoever nature is expected to be received, reasonable fees as approved by the state government, will be charged from the trainees.
The Institute will follow the syllabus prescribed for Primary Teachers Certificate Examination (P.T.C.) by the State Board of Examination, Government of Gujarat. It will be a course of two years’ duration and the admission criteria will be H.S.C. (12th Std.) Exam passed with at least 50 % marks. There will be two exams to be held by the Govt. of Gujarat, one each at the end of each year. Those who successfully fulfill the requirements, such as attendance, practical work, theory and passing the examinations may be declared pass and be awarded the certificates.
The medium of instruction would be Gujarati. However, trainees may be allowed to answer their question-papers either in Hindi or English as per the policy of the State Government.
The intake capacity of each year-class will be normally 50 as per the revised norms of N.C.T.E. and in accordance with the admission policy and procedure approved by the State Department of Education. Should N.C.T.E. grant approval, the Institution does have necessary provision for two divisions for first year with an intake capacity of 50. |
