Admission Criteria


The admissions to P.T.C. (Two years) course will be granted to those who have passed Higher Secondary School Certificate exam. Or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate, as per the rules framed by the state Department of Education for central admission scheme.  However, there will be some reserved seats in accordance with the stipulation of state government.

 

Curriculum Transaction and Internship

  1. Working days and Hours of Instruction
    There shall be at least 150 teaching days in a year exclusive of period for admission, examination, etc.  A working day will be of 6 hours for a six-day working week.  It will be proportionately longer (7.2 hours) for a five day working week.

    Besides, every teacher-trainer shall be required to undergo internship in teaching(including practice teaching) skill development at least for 30 days in nearby elementary schools.

  2. Subjects for Teaching
    Apart from teaching of foundation subjects, there shall be provision for teaching of method-subjects relating to Primary(std. I to VII) curriculum, viz. Gujarati, Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.

  3. Practical work (other than Practice Teaching )
    Each Teacher Trainee will be required to perform under supervision the following practical work during each year of the course :

  4. Supervised Practice Teaching
    The principle of knowledge combined with skills and application is to be intelligently and judicially followed during the two-year course of Elementary Teacher Education Programme (P.T.C.).  Thus, the principles, maxims and techniques learned in the foundation of education, are to be meaningfully applied to real class roompractice.  A provision has been made to conduct Practice Teaching Programme in a planned manner so as to enable each trainee to teach two periods per day and observe at least two lessons of peer trainees.  At least 50 % of the practice lessons shall be fully supervised by the educators of the Institution.  Each trainee shall be required to teach a minimum of 15 lessons in each of the optional teaching subjects.  Besides provision has also been made to use micro-teaching (plan-teach, replan-reteach) will be included in the first phase of teaching practice.

    The institution has made arrangements with as many as 10elementary schools with 50 classes of std. I to VII situated in the villages within the radius of 7 kilometers for practice teaching   and internship programmer.
